Austin never married and died with no children, nieces, nor nephews. His last will was filed in the Jefferson County Surrogate's Court listing numerous Bennett cousins as most of his 17 distributees. He was an accomplished violin player and had a pet skunk. He always resided on the Selter homestead farm, which was on the north shore on the Three Mile Bay-Point Peninsula road, six miles from the Village of Three Mile Bay. The farm residence was completely destroyed by fire on Nov 30 1929. Funeral at home of his friend, John Weiler.
