5543 Private, 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Died aged 21 years of enteric fever (typhoid) at Woodstock Military Hospital, Cape Town during the Second Anglo Boer War 1899-1902. Buried initially at Fort knocke, Woodstock, Cape Town. Commemorated on the Woodstock Boer War memorial in Maitland Cemetery, Cape Town. He is also commemorated on a Royal Welsh Fusiliers Boer War memorial inside St Giles Parish Church in Wrexham, Wales (see: http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/cofadeiladau/wrexham-rwf-boer_wm.htm).
