Albert T. Emory graduated, Class of 1841, from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1844 and served as Deputy Attorney General for Queen Anne County from 1845-52. He also, was nominated to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1851.
During the Civil War, Albert Emory enlisted as a Private in Confederate States Army in the 3rd Maryland Artillery; which was one of the few Maryland Confederate units to be sent to the Western theater of the war. This put Albert in direct conflict with his well-known older brother, Major General William Hemsely Emory, commander of Union cavalry troops in a number of important engagements in both the Western and Eastern theaters of the war. Albert surrendered with the Lee's Army of Virginia, as a as a Quartermaster and Commissary in 1865.
Albert T. Emory was married to Miss Sarah Winder. There are no known children born to this union.
After the war, Albert Emory returned to Queen Anne's County; where he practiced law in Centreville. In 1876, Albert Emory was appointed Auditor by Circuit Court and Court of Chancery of Queen Anne County. He died on the 26th of March 1896. He was buried in the Emory Family cemetery at Poplar Grove near his parents.
