Clyde Campbell Yancey died at Well Spring Retirement Community on October 26, 2014. Clyde was born in Richmond, VA on May 15, 1926, the son of Clement Lee Yancey and Preston Walsh Yancey.

He moved to Greensboro as an infant and attended Lindley Elementary, Lindley Junior High and Greensboro Senior High. After graduating from the Baylor School in Chattanooga TN, he attended Duke University for one year before enlisting in the Navy. After serving 2 years in the Pacific on the USS CARIB, Clyde returned to Duke where he graduated with a business degree in 1948. Clyde attended graduate school at UNC-CH when he joined his father in the family business, Greensboro Twine and Paper Co., where he worked until he retired as president in 2001.

For 17 years, Clyde was the dedicated Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 203. He was very proud of his scouts and proud to be a scout master. Clyde was awarded the scout honor: The Silver Beaver Award. Clyde was also a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Marillyn H. Yancey; his brother-in-law, Ralph W. Hoyt; his nieces, Brooks H Holland and Betty H. Rosenbloom of Jacksonville, FL; and Anne H Carlson of Greensboro, NC; and a nephew, Gregory E. Yancey of Greensboro, NC.

A memorial service will be held at Well Spring Retirement Community in the Richardson Auditorium on Thursday, October 30 at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends after the service.
