Alvin Leonard Rich, M.D., 84, of Mountain Brook, Alabama, died on October 29, 2014. He is survived by three daughters, one son, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey L. Rich; his parents, Charles and Mary Rich; sister, Grace "Tootsie" Eiman; and brothers, Marvin Rich and William "Billy" Rich. He was born on November 26, 1929 at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama where he later practiced medicine. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended college at Birmingham Southern in 1950 and graduated from medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1957. He practiced medicine as an anesthesiologist in Birmingham hospitals for over forty years and was Chief of Anesthesia at the Eye Foundation Hospital. He was a lifetime member and past president of Knesseth Israel Synagogue. Graveside service: October 31, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
