DEATH TAKES JOHN BADDERS
Monroe Business Man Dies at Home Wednesday Afternoon
John Badders, 70, well-known Monroe business man, died Wednesday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at his home in Monroe. Mr. Badders was stricken about ten days ago with a stroke of paralysis and he failed rapidly the last several days. Complications also set in. Mr. Badders operated a combined grocery, cigar, soft drink and ice cream store and also a filling station. He was in business in Monroe for 38 years and lived in Adams Co. 50 years.
The death of Mr. Badders is the second to occur among Monroe merchants within a short period, Ferd Tabler having died several weeks ago.
The deceased was born in Jay Co., on March 24, 1864, a son of Mose and Mary Hahn Badders. At the time of his death he was 70 years, 6 months and 2 days old.
On Dec. 15, 1900, he was united in marriage at Monroe to Miss Cecil Miller. She survives. Two children were born to this union but both died in infancy.
Surviving besides the widow is one brother, William Badders of Fort Wayne. One sister and one brother preceded in infancy.
Mr. Badders was a member of the Monroe M. E. Church, where the funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Elbert Morford officiating, assisted by Rev. Vernon Riley. Burial will be in the Ray Cemetery.
