Jimmie was born in Gholson, Texas, to the late Frank and Julie (Kucera) Bajer. He attended schools in the Gholson and West areas.
On April 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ella Mae Stone in West. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Jimmie was discharged in 1954 and he and Ella moved to Waco to start their family.
Jimmie worked in the maintenance department for the Waco Independent School District from 1966 until his retirement in 1998. He also worked for West Flour Mill and Rainbow Bakery.
On March 7, 1998, he was united in marriage to Jo Anna Ewing in Waco. Jimmie enjoyed dealing with antiques, woodworking, and playing the accordion. He was a good neighbor and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He and Jo Anna were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in Waco, where he was also a member of the Men's Club of the Church and served as an usher. Jimmie was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 2148 in Waco, a life member of the Amvets Post No. 72 in Hillsboro, and the K.J.T. Society No. 31 in West.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella, on January 16, 1996; and a brother, Frank Bajer, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Anna, of Waco; daughters, Judith Kaska and her husband, Steve Jr., of Waco, and Janet Bezdek and her husband, Michael, of Abbott; grandchildren, Jeff Bezdek, Amanda Ziegler and her husband, Chris, and James Bezdek; step-daughters, Jo Beth Peterson, of Georgetown, Debra Lynn Motley and her husband, Bill, of Phoenix AZ, and Mary Ann Deuvall and her husband, Clif, of Waco; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ludvik Bajer, of West, and Edward Bajer, of Dallas; sister, Dorothy Vavra, of Temple; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
