Mary Frances Kitchings, age 98 of Barnesville, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Heritage Inn of Barnesville.

Ms. Kitchings was born in Barnesville, Georgia on December 7, 1914. She is preceded in death by her parents, Olen Ewart Kitchings and Julia Claude Howell Kitchings; brothers, John H. (Nellie Fae) Kitchings, Olen (Shirley) Kitchings, Neal (Irene and Gloria) Kitchings, Samuel Kitchings; sister, Annie Ruth Kitchings (Lindsey) Johnson; nephews, Billy and Bobby Kitchings, Garty Hartman.

She was a very active member of Hapeville United Methodist Church and Milner United Methodist Church, serving as U.M.W. President, board member, Sunday school teacher, telephone committee and pianist. She was also a member of the Johnsonville Garden Club, Barnesville Women's League, Colleen's Friendship Circle, First National Bank Social and Trend Club. She cleaned and decorated Milner United Methodist Church for years, sold vegetables, loved yard work and flowers, was a social light, and loved people. She always wanted everyone "to do right" and get along. Ms. Kitchings had a sharp mind, was witty, had a hardy laugh and kept in touch with lots of "folks". "Better get with it". Ms. Kitchings was retired from Estes Surgical Supply Company, Atlanta 1969.

Survivors include her brother, William "Billy" Kitchings and wife, Bonnie of Barnesville; sister-in-law, Peggy Sullivan Kitchings of Ft. Valley, GA; nieces and nephews, John H. (Niky) Kitchings of Jacksonville, FL, Johnnie Fae Kitchings Hartman of Jacksonville, FL, James and Carolyn Kitchings of Barnesville, Dr. Gene Kitchings of Temple, TX, Harry and Mary Kitchings of Lilburn, GA, Dee Bankston Kitchings of Barnesville, Judy Wilson Kitchings of Barnesville, Lindsey Johnson of Lizella, GA, Barry and Mary Kitchings of Milledgeville, GA , Jeff Kitchings of Barnesville, Pamela Kitchings Moore of Milner; 50 great nieces and nephews; 11 great-great nieces and nephews; special cousins, Cornelia Burckett Synco of Dothan, AL, Henrietta Cetas and son, Charles of New York.

Funeral services for Ms. Mary Frances Kitchings will be conducted on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 12:00pm at Milner United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Barnesville City Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the church from 10:00am until 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milner United Methodist Church, 174 Main St., Milner, GA 30257 in memory of Ms. Kitchings.
