Daniels, Al Jerry (A. J.) – age 76, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, November 5, 2014, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on December 22, 1937, to the late Garrett and Emma (Wilmouth) Daniels. Born in Grainger County, he was raised in Knoxville, Tenn., by sister Brooksie and her husband Horace Pearson. After graduation from East High School, he started working in the service station business, a career that lasted until his retirement in the mid-1990s. He was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church, now known as Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. A.J. was a loyal, loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. A.J. enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a loyal fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He was also an avid UT sports fan. A.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Emma, brothers Fred (Rebecca), Clarence (Frances) and W.G. “Dub” Daniels; sisters Katherine (Hubert) Kidwell, Brooksie (Horace) Pearson, Mattie (Hugh) West and Louise (U.J.) Wilson; brothers-in-law, Robert (Mildred) Tallent, Raymond (Ethel) Tallent, Sr., Claude Tallent, Jr., Charles Tallent, Joseph Tallent; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Davis and Dorothy Lawhorn. A.J. leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Janie Sue Tallent Daniels; two beloved daughters, Deborah Lynn Daniels (husband Kevin Skelton) and Angela Kay Daniels (Keith Skelton); step-grandchildren Emily, Gavin and Lillie Skelton and beloved granddog, Coco. He is also survived by sister Paralee (the late Ishmael) Ramsey; sister-in-law, Linda Tallent; brothers-in-law David (Carolyn) Tallent, Steve (Shirley) Tallent; many beloved nieces and nephews, special nephew Jeff Lawhorn, grandnieces and grandnephews, special grandnephew Joey West, numerous friends and special friend Tommy Thomas, along with lifelong friend Coy Smith, Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to Amedysis Hospice staff for their loving care during this difficult time. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 9, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Chaplain James Dunn officiating. The graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery Monday, November 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel at 1:15 p.m. and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers: Jeff Lawhorn, Joey West, Ronnie Brimer, Dickie Ramsey, Gavin Skelton, Scott Tallent; Honorary Pallbearers: David Tallent, Judson Kidwell, Coy Smith Jr., Howard Kidwell, Tommy Thompson.
