Sarah R. Kauffman, 82, formerly of Hamburg, died Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in her residence at 428 Elsie St., Shillington. Her husband, Harvey W. Kauffman, died in 1990. Her first husband, George W. McNeill, died in 1967. Born in Lenhartsville, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Rosa (Arndt) Bower. She was employed for 20 years as a candy maker by Linette Candies, retiring in 1970. Kauffman was a member of Lutheran congregation of St. Michael's Union Church, Tilden Township. She is survived by three daughters: Shirley M. Bailey, Five Points, Alsace Township; Joan M., wife of Barry B. Shomo, with whom Kauffman resided; and Faye L. Grauff, Shoemakersville; and two sons: Carlton G. McNeill, Sinking Spring; and Lester E. McNeill, West Reading. Other survivors include a brother, Emanuel Bower and a sister, Mamie, wife of Paul Miller, both of Hamburg. There are also 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The Klee Funeral Home, Shillington, is in charge of arrangements.
