My great grandfather, George was born in Dubois County Indiana on April 17, 1863 to Jesse and Mary Jane (Paddock) Spraggins. He married Mary Etta Kendall on April 2, 1871 in Crawford County, Indiana. They had four Children, Amanda Elizabeth 1892, William Roy 1894, Victor Milton 1896 and Bertha Alice 1900. Amanda and William perished in a house fire in Littles Indiana on January 17,1896. They are buried at the Martin Cemetery in Pike County Indiana. George became bed ridden with stomach cancer in 1905 and died on January 20, 1908 in Birdseye Indiana. During his illness Bertha's main task was to care for her father, while Victor and Mary Etta chained chairs for the chair manufacturing company in Birdseye Mary Etta died in Richmond April 16, 1961. Victor passed in Tucson Arizona, June 6, 1959 and Bertha died at the home of her daughter June 2, 1994 in New Port Richey, Florida George was a farmer and miner by trade. His father Jesse born November 16, 1823 died on January 24, 1908 four days after his son George in Birdseye.
