"The Opelika-Auburn News" - November 9, 2014:

Mr. Robert Barnett, 94, of Wadley, Alabama died Thursday November 6, 2014 at the East Alabama Medical Center. Mr. Barnett was born in Goodwater, Alabama October 25, 1920 to Carl Barnett, Sr., & Maydolph Saxon Barnett. He was a WWII Army veteran was awarded the WW2 Victory Medal, The European Africa Middle Eastern Service Medal with two Bronze Stars was with the 743rd Tank Battalion as a gunner. Funeral services will be held Sunday November 9, 2014 at 2 PM at the LaFayette Heights Baptist Church with burial in the LaFayette City Cemetery the Rev. Paul Howard officiating.
Survivors are his nine children Annie Mae (JC) Robinson of Leeds, Al., Julia (Lynwood) Hurst of Valley, Al., Christine (Sammy) Simpson of Opelika, Al., Dianne Glidewell of Ragland, Al., Shonda (Richard) Burke of Wadley, Al., Shawn (Wayne) Harvey of Savannah, Ga., Dennis (Regina) Teel of Cusseta, Al., Donnie (Karla) Teel of Dadeville, Al, Sammy (Tracy) Teel of Alexander City, Al., Sister Nora (Merrell) Crabb of Pratville, Al., Brother Billy Joe Barnett of Sylacauga, Al., 22 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, and a host of great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Barnett, 1 daughter and 3 grandsons. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 4PM until 6PM.
