Ronald E. Burroughs, 82, died June 8, 2008, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Richford, the son of Arthur George Burrows and Hazel B. (Sargent) Burrows Colburn, and attended local schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the Army National Guard.

Mr. Burroughs married Agnes E. McEwen in Windsor on Jan. 30, 1947.

He was employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor for 35 years before retiring in 1980. He served as constable in Windsor from 1974 to 1978. He owned and operated Ronnie's Radio and Television Sales and Repair Shop for more than 30 years.

He was a life member of American Legion Post 25 in Windsor where he was also past commander, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, the 43rd Division Veterans Association where he was also past state commander and past state commander of the 4-0/8 of Vermont.

Mr. Burroughs was an avid snowmobiler.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hutchinson of Springfield and Susan Hickey of Ascutney; two brothers, Stanley Burrows of La Verne, Calif., and Laurence Burrows of Poway, Calif.; a sister, Ila Hust of Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife in 1992 and four brothers, Ernest Burrows, Arnold "Babe" Burrows, Olin Burrows and Kenneth Burrows.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Blaisdell officiating.

Burial will follow in Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vermont Lung Association, Winston L. Prouty Center, South Burlington, VT 05401.
