DeVries, Bartele Arend, 80, of Tampa passed away November 5, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine, in 2003. Survivors include his children, Bobbie Bullian (Aaron) of Tampa, Rebecca DeVries-Mitchell of Sarasota, and Daniel DeVries (Davina) of Temple Terrace; and grandchildren, Kyle, Hannah, Jason, Ethan, Abigail, and Aneli. Bart was born in Borneo, Indonesia. He was a POW as a child in World War II and this is where he came to know the Lord. With the Lord’s help, he rose above his circumstances- he served as a fighter pilot in the Royal Dutch Air Force, worked for many years as a corporate executive for Burlington Industries. A Tampa Bay resident since 1994, he was an active member of Christ Community Church. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 11 at the Christ Community Church, 6202 N Himes Ave, Tampa followed by fellowship. A graveside service for family only will be held at 3pm at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bart’s memory to Christ Community Church, 6202 N Himes Ave, Tampa, 33614 (for mission project, Cuba for Christ.). Blount Curry West FH
