William H. Harrison Sr., 77, of Butler passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 24, 1933, the son of the late Maurice and Helen Templeton Harrison.
William retired from the Castle Rubber Co., where he worked for 41 years.
He was a member of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 117 of Butler and the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed camping and sailing. William also enjoyed playing the keyboard at nursing homes to entertain the residents. He did woodworking and remodeling. There was nothing he could not fix.
William was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Minehart Harrison, who he was married to for 52 years; two sons, William H. Harrison Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Butler and Steven P. Harrison Sr. and his wife, Kimberlee, of Butler; two daughters, Sandra J. Stoner and her husband, Jeff, of Butler and Teresa J. Thiel and her husband, Kirk, of Butler; three brothers, Robert Harrison of Plumville, Barry Harrison and his wife, Mary Ann, of Florida and Jack Harrison and his wife, Donna, of Florida; one sister, Patricia Reefer and her husband, Claire, of Elderton; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Dustin and Melisa Stoner, Corrine and Zachary Thiel, and Steven Harrison Jr. and Kallee Harrison.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Burletic, and one brother, Donald Harrison.
HARRISON - Friends of William H. Harrison Sr., who died Thursday, June 2, 2011, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. James Dolan officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter Cemetery.
