"Stella Mullens passed away July 26, 1997. She was born in Chilhowee, Tenn. and moved to Akron, Ohio, where she was a resident of the area for more than 60 years. She resided many years in Bath and Green, moving to Cuyahoga Fails in 1992. She was a curator at the Hale Homestead in the 1960s, was a part-time employee of Ohio Bell and subsequently retired from the Admitting Office at Akron General Medical Center in 1976 and continued to volunteer at the Hostess Desk until late 1996. She was a member of the AGMC Service League, Bath Historical Society, Bath Good Times Club, Bath Antiques Guild, and various other organizations over the years. She was a member of the Firestone Park Christian Church and a former member of the Ghent Cristian Church. Mom was well-known among her friends and family for her love of music and singing and her postiive attitude towards both life and her health. Because of this optimistic attitude, she fought a battle against cancer for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by husbands, Sherwood (Sherm) Ingram in 1963 and Joe Mullens in 1989. She is survived by daughter... nieces... nephews... She is also survived by special friend, Lloyd Prince; 'daughter number two'... many great-nieces and nephews; and many friends. Mrs. Mullens will be greatly missed by all who kenw and loved her. Calling hours Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Ciriello & Carr Fairlawn Chapel, 39 S. Miller Rd., where Rev. Gene Chiavetta will conduct services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment at Greensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Firestone Park Christian Church, 40 E. Wilbeth Rd., Akron, OH 44301 or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333."
