James was the son of Robert Houston Breazeale and Elizabeth Wells. He married Henrietta McFarland on Jan. 1, 1874. They were the parents of Herbert, Louis, Edward, and Myrtle.

February 23, 1923 - Humboldt Republican - James Jackson Breazeale was born in Montrose in Lee County, Iowa, on April 29, 1849.

At the age of 25 he was united in marriage Jan. 1, 1874, to Miss Henrietta McFarland. Four children were born into this home, 2 of whom have passed on to the other life, Herbert and Louis. Those remaining are Edward Breazeale and Mrs. Halver Anderson, both of Humboldt.

In early life Mr. Breazeale made a confession of Christ and united with the United Brethern Church. When he became a resident of Humboldt county some thirty years ago he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and remained a loyal member until the day of his death.

Mr. Breazeale had a wide acquaintance over Humboldt county and during the third of a century that he lived here he had made many lasting friendships. He was a familiar figured upon the grounds of the Humboldt County Fair where for many years he has had charge of the poultry exhibit.

Although his age was beginning to tell upon him, yet he was still active in life until about three weeks ago when he was stricken with the disease which finally proved too much for his failing strength. Not only life, but also the last few days of life, witnessed for him a brave effort put forth. But it was of no avail and on last Saturday morning a short while before noon the tired body went to rest and he fell asleep to awake in the land and life of the golden tomorrows.

He is survived by his stricken widow who for almost fifty years has walked by his side and who now is sorely bereft by his going ahead, also by his son and daughter, several grandchildren and two brothers, Wm Breazeale of Albia, and Albert of Mt Pleasant and two sisters, Mrs. James Wilson of Modesta, Calif., and Martha of Creston, Iowa.

He had attained the age of 71 years, 9 months and 18 days when he found the open gate into life and entered.
