Coral A. Atkinson, age 101, of Waupaca, a Portage County native and longtime Almond resident, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Bethany Home in Waupaca. Services were held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, the Rev. Richard Fite officiated. Burial in First Belmont Cemetery in the town of Belmont.

Mrs. Atkinson was born Dec. 14, 1900, in Almond, a daughter of the late Clyde and Libby (Ward) Adams.

She was married to Earl J. Atkinson on Dec. 17, 1922, in the town of Belmont. He died Jan. 10, 1971.

She taught school from 1919 to 1967. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Almond, Royal Neighbors of America, Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers Association and did volunteer work.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Barbara (Dean) Samuelson, Stanley; one grandson, Larry (Lona) Atkinson, Wild Rose; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Clyde; and one foster brother, Lowell.
