John T. Morris

John T. Morris, eldest son of Mercer and Elizabeth Morris, was born October 3, 1844 in Owen County, Indiana.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Cool May 6, 1884. She departed this life Sept. 1, 1915. Until he was stricken with paralysis four years ago, he enjoyed working on his farm which had been his home for fifty-five years.

Two and a half years ago he went to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Mary Ruble. At the time of his death his son, daughter and husband, three sisters: Kate Curtis, Ellen Shupe and Anna Pierce were at his bedside.

He leaves to mourn his departure two children, Leo of Medora, Mary Ruble of Lacona, eight grandchildren, five sisters: Kate Curtis of Knoxville, Ellen Shupe of Lacona, Manda Butler of Indianola, Sarah Goodrich of Osceola, Lou Anna Pierce of Egan, South Dakota, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews and friends.

His father and mother, three brothers and two sisters have gone on before.

He was a kind husband and loving father and brother, always honest and upright in all his dealings.

The children and sisters wish to extend their thanks to the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in our late bereavement. We wnat to thank the choir for the beautiful songs, and Brother Stewart for the comforting words.
