Dennis “Denny” Ray Fegett, 67, of Georgetown passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Vincent’s in Indianapolis, IN.
Denny was born September 30, 1947 in Danville to James H. and Kathryn (Miller) Fegett. He attended Danville and Oakwood Schools. Denny married Peggy Pierce in Danville and later married Pat Craycraft on September 29, 1972 in Georgetown.
Denny was a mechanic at Win C. Smith and a service manager at Koehn Motors. Mostly though, Denny was a mechanic in his own garage. He loved to build hot rods and motorcycles. Denny loved the challenge of what he could create next. He did it all, from making custom parts to doing elaborate paint jobs, every detail mattered. Some of his other hobbies included bowling, hunting, mushrooming, being outdoors, and playing Euchre with his cousins. Denny loved his golf cart and taking all the grandkids for rides, telling stories and singing his variations of silly songs. Denny would do anything for anyone and loved lending a helping hand. He was a great neighbor. Everyone anticipated his holiday light displays. Denny was also a ten year heart transplant survivor.
Denny is survived by his mother, Kathryn Fegett; his loving wife, Pat Fegett; three sons, Greg (Robin Potts) Fegett of Georgetown, Scott (Heather) Fegett of Oakwood, and Mark (Star) Fegett of Georgetown; one daughter, Delynn (Rusty) Snapp of Georgetown; sixteen grandchildren, Dean, Olivia, Owen, Malorie, and Claire Fegett, Ricky (Leather Walls), James, Colton, and Sarah Dailey, Ileah, Samantha, and Isabelle Snapp, Jennifer Hart, Elizabeth (William) Cannon, Maranda Rife, and Chrystal (Matt) Weaver; 12 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (Carroll) Watson and Mary DeVors both of Danville; two sisters-in-law, Linda Allaway and Chris (Alva) Montgomery both of Georgetown; and ten nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James, his mother-in-law, Rosemond Craycraft, and infant son, Thomas, great-granddaughter, Addison, special cousin, Kay Ray Kepling, and his faithful companion, his dachshund, Hazel.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:00AM at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, IL. Rev. James Blue will be officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 17, 2014 from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
