Garnet Lee WASHBURN Passed away peacefully on September 3, 2009. Born September 11, 1919 to Theophilus and Sara Berkey in her family's home in Boliver, Pennsylvania; the youngest of four children. Loving wife of Charles Washburn until his passing in 2001. Caring mother of JoAnn Huff and husband Neil of Sitka, Alaska and Robert C. Washburn and wife, Janet, of Seattle. Wonderful grandmother of George (Danielle) and Erynn Huff, Ashia Lane, Rose and Carly Washburn. Preceded in death by her brother, Robert, and sisters, Katherine and Sara Ellen. Garnet graduated from Bellevue High School in Pennsylvania. in 1937. Moved to Washington State in 1943, settling in her favorite place, Seattle, after the war. Married her husband, Charles, in 1949. While raising a family, she was active in the PTA, Fauntleroy Church and Fauntleroy YMCA. In her later years she enjoyed making costumes for her son's business, attending couples exercise classes at the YMCA and traveling around the country with her husband and friends. She will be remembered mostly for her thoughtful, caring nature. Her family will miss her guidance and counseling. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Fauntleroy Church UCC, 9260 California Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA. 98136. Remembrances in her can be made to the Fauntleroy Church UCC or your favorite charity.
