SCARBOROUGH -- Ashley 'AJ' M. Johnston, 23, of Scarborough died on Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after being in a coma.
AJ was born in Elizabethtown, Ky., the daughter of Russell and Marjorie 'Willette' Johnston, where she was educated and a graduate of Scarborough High School Class of 2008.
She enjoyed dancing, fashion, music and spending time with her friends. She danced with Broadway Dance Academy from the age of six to the tenth grade and in later years she performed in dance competition with Star Dancers. She worked for four years at Texas Road House and helped choreographed the Scarborough Texas Roadhouse dance team for the New England Texas Road House Competition. The past year she worked at Zeus Closet where she was able to pursue her interest in fashion.

She is survived by her parents, Russell and Marjorie Johnston of Scarborough; brothers, Jonathan and wife Lauren Arnold of Rochester, N.H., Timothy Arnold of Scarborough, sister Elizabeth and her husband Antonio Valderrama of New Haven, Conn.; grandmother Joan Johnston of Orono; three nephews, Teddy, Simon and Gideon Arnold; and many extended family members and loving friends.

A celebration service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at the East Point Christian Church in Portland. Arrangements made by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hobbsfuneralhome.com.
