Rap Musician. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Carson was a key member of the popular 1980s and 1990s rap group, 'X-Clan.' The son of the late prominent and influential Civil Rights activist Sonny Carson, he helped form the group in the late 1980s, with friends, in there hometown of Brooklyn, New York. The group included (besides Carson), Jason 'Grand Vebalizer Funkin Lesson 'Brother Jay' Hunter, Anthony 'The Rhythem Provider 'Sugar Shaft' Hardin, Claude 'Grand Architect 'Paradise' Grey, and Lin 'MC Isis' Que. Known as a politically oriented Afrocentric rap group, the group's members were also part of the Blackwatch program and vocal supporters of pro-black organizations. In 1990, the group released there album, "To The East, Blackwards", and it's follow-up in 1992, "Xodus." Both albums fared well thanks to Brother Jay's accomplished vocal skills, and there style of Parliament/Funkadelic sampling routine. The group were also known for there green, red, and sometimes black outfits. The two albums both landed at #11 on the Top/R&B Hip Hop Charts. Following the release of there second album, the group became more known for there political stance, and the group disbanded shortly therafter. After the group brokeup Carson and MC Isis released solo albums, Brother J formed a new group, 'Dark Sun Riders' in 1996, and also sadly in 1996, Sugar Shaft passed away from AIDS complicatons. In the late 1990s, the band reunited, but are not working professionally. On March 17, 2006, Carson passed away from meningitis, at the age of 49. Some of the group's recordings include, 'Tribal Jam,' 'Grand Verbalizer, What Time Is It,' 'Verbal Milk,' 'Verbs Of Power,' 'In The Ways Of Scale,' 'Earth Bound,' 'A Day Of Outrage, Operation Snatchback,' 'Verbal Papp,' 'F.T.P.,' 'Ooh Baby,' 'A.D.A.M.,' and 'Funk Liberation.'
