CLOVIS, N.M - Roena A. Vanzant, 89, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Assembly of God Church in Portales with the Rev. Paul Hutsell officiating and assisted by the Revs. Raymond Hudson and Joe Heniger. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery at Portales by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc.

Mrs. Vanzant was born in Indiahoma, Okla. and attended schools in Quay, N.M. She was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, N.M., where she was active in Assembly of God churches. She was the New Mexico Women's Ministries president and coordinator, coordinator for Missionettes and a Sunday school teacher and children's worker. Mrs. Vanzant and her husband ministered together in Assembly of God churches throughout New Mexico for 67 years.

She married Earl G. Vanzant in 1927 at Tucumcari, N.M. He died in November.

Survivors include four sons; Thurman Vanzant of pringfield, Mo., Carl Vanzant of Arlington, Texas, Homer Vanzant of Kansas City, Mo., and Larry Vanzant of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Marion Owens of Portales, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild.

The family requests memorials be to a scholarship fund in memory of Rev. and Mrs. Earl Vanzant at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas.
