Verna (Sleeper) Welch, 87, of 10 Balder Road died yesterday in the Medical Center of Central Massachusetts-Hahnemann.
Her husband, William H. Welch, died in 1978. She leaves a daughter, Shirley S. Clifford of Shrewsbury; a granddaughter; two nephews; and a niece.
She was born in (Montreal) Quebec, Canada, daughter of Frank and Lilla (Hopkinson) Sleeper, and lived in Worcester 81 years.
Mrs. Welch graduated from Bancroft School and the former Miss Potter's school.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St., with the Rev. Fred W. Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden. Calling hours at the funeral home are 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday. The family requests flowers be omitted.
