Homer Dale Kennedy, 75, of McAlester, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at home. Born July 14, 1939, in Hanna, he was the son of John David and Velma Alberta (Reed) Kennedy. He grew up in Hanna and graduated from Hanna High School in 1958. He joined the United States Navy after high school. He served from 1959 to 1969. After serving in the Navy, he worked in construction and at the U.S. Army Ammunition Plant. He went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in March 1978. He received many service awards during his 32 years of service before retiring in December 2010. He was a member of Tulledega Lodge No. 201 in Henryetta and received his 32nd Degree from the Masonic Lodge in McAlester. He married Bernice Lovell on Nov. 24, 1976, in Muskogee. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brumley- Mills Chapel with Minister Bill Kirk officiating. The obituary will be read by Jack Mouser. Burial will be at Hanna Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
