Bertha Peek, age 91, of Louisville returned to her Heavenly Father November 17, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Peek was born in Germany February 16, 1923. In 1965 she moved to Bullitt County, where she has resided since. She believed in always giving of herself and was an honorary member of the Zoneton Fire Department, baked pies for firefighters, contributed to Crusade for Children by collecting at their roadblocks and raffling her handmade quilts. She was also a participant in numerous other charities.
Among those who preceded her in death include her husband, Jess R. Peek, Sr.; daughters, Sherry and JoAnn; parents, Peter and Pauline Abel; and mother-in-law, Kate Peek.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Jess R., Jr. (Mary), Peter G (Kathy) and Bill (Paula); daughters, Kathy (Jim) and Becky (Mark); 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Andrew Tuttle.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road, use John Harper entrance) with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and family may pay their respects Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
