From 1976 to 1977, Mr. Sinkay worked with the Peace Corps in Costa Rica where he taught nutrition and agriculture to the local residents, using a horse to travel through the jungles.
He married Mary Beard on May 5, 1985, in North Carolina.
Mr. Sinkay was a pharmaceutical sales representative and executive director of several community health centers.
He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, Tae Kwon Do, playing drums, gourmet cooking and summertime.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sinkay; his mother, Amelia Sinkay; two sons, Logan and Jared Sinkay; his sister, Sylvia; and three granddaughters, Keona Rodriguez, Lillian Sinkay and Adalynn Pennel, all of Cedaredge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sinkay.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
