Mrs. Lera Franklin Jackson Highfill, age 82, a resident of Swing Dairy Rd., Lexington, NC, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born April 18, 1932 in Rockingham Co., NC, daughter of the late Bunn Jackson and Clara Beatrice Smith Jackson. Lera was a homemaker and was a member of Leonard Road Baptist Church in Lexington, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Stacy LouAlice Jackson and Joann Clayton; two grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Surviving are two daughters, Abbie Soles and husband Isaac of Chadburn, NC, Karen Newsom and husband Donnie of Trinity; three sons, Gary Highfill of Thomasville, Kim Highfill and wife Janet of Brown Summit, NC and Billy Ray Highfill and wife Joannie of Lexington; four sisters, Dara Perkins of Greensboro, Corena Gray of Mebane, NC, Louise Moore of Martin, GA and Gloria Gay Buskirk and husband Bobby of Preston, MS; five brothers, Aldene Jackson and wife Anita of Tar Heel, NC, Eugene Jackson and wife Betty of Snow Camp, NC, Bobby Jackson and wife Millie and Charles Jackson and wife Joan, all of Greensboro and Michael Jackson and wife Janice of Pleasant Garden, NC; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Beaver Island Baptist Church in Mayodan, NC with Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. The interment will follow in the Llewelyn Family Cemetery. The family will be at J. C. Green & Sons funeral home in Thomasville on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 PM and other times at the home.
