VIRGIL T. SHERBERT , 74, of Tampa died Wednesday at home. A native of Gadsden, Ala., he had lived in the Tampa Bay area 17 years, coming from Panama City. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Helen; one son, Joseph of Nectar, Ala.; four daughters, Montez Chilton of Anniston, Ala., Jeanette Hendrix of Fountain, Anita Bell of Tampa and Cynthia Jordan of Riverview; one brother, Mitchell of Haden, Ala.; three sisters, Ion e Smith of Bedford, Mich., Grace Armstrong and Zula Wood, both of Haden, Ala.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
