Amanda Malvina (Harmon) Goolsby is the daughter of James Harmon and Mary (Lester) Harmon. The Harmon family migrated to South Carolina from Germany in September of 1752 aboard the ship "The Cunliffe". The family then moved to Mississippi where she married Benjamin Franklin Goolsby on December 24, 1845.

Their children are James Fred, Joseph "Joe", Madison "Matt", William "Nute", Andrew Thomas "Tom", Columbus Jones "Toad", George L., John Benjamin, Alonzo, Larra Joanna, and Fannie Gooslby.
