At 66 Hawley street, Binghamton, at 1:25 o'clock Sunday afternoon, occurred the death of Mrs. William J. Abbott in her 55th year. Her death was sudden and unexpectd. Mrs. Abbott had been making her home with her son, Walter W. Abbott, 217 Kossuth street, for some time, going to Binghamton a short time ago. She had recovered from a recent illness. Early Sunday morning Mr. Abbott received a message that his mother was ill. He went to Binghamton and arrived before her death. Mrs. Abbott was born in Camroden on June 6, 1869, and was a daughter of Hannah and the late Richard O. Pritchard. She was married to Mr. Abbott on April 16, 1890. Mr. and Mrs. Abbott resided in this city for a number of years, Mr. Abbott being engaged in the clothing business. About six years ago they removed to Utica and some time ago she came here to reside with her son. During her early life Mrs. Abbott became a member of the Presbyterian Church of Westernville and retained her membership in that church. She was a member of Williamstown Chapter, No. 199 Order of the Eastern Star, Utica Lodge, Ladies of the Maccabees, Queen Esther Rebekka Lodge, IOOF of Rome, and the Ladies Auxillary No 15, Sons of Veterans of Utica. She is survived by her husband, one son, Walter W., her mother, who resides with her son, William Pritchard of Holland Patent, RFD No 3, another brother, George F. Pritchard of Baldwinsville, and an aunt, Mrs. R. M. Thomas, 203 West Court street. Mrs. Abbott was a woman of a pleasing personality and made many friends, all of whom will mourn her passing. The remains were brought to this city and taken to the home of the son where the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon.
