Gertrude was adopted from the Child Saving Institute in Omaha, Nebraska by Cornelius and
Agathe Epp. She grew up on a farm in Beatrice, Nebraska and raised in the Mennonite faith. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1945 and attended her freshman year of college at Grace Bible Institute and majored in music. She married Harvey G. May November 29, 1971 in Beatrice, Nebraska. They moved from Hope, Kansas to Waldron, Arkansas in 1981, several years after Harvey retired from the Army. Gertrude became a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church in Waldron, Arkansas. Her life exemplified her faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, by singing in adoration and praise to him. She also expressed her love to her many family and friends. She was an active member of the VFW by being involved in the Ladies Auxillary.
Gertrude leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter of Greeley, Colorado, three sons, and a step-son of Mena, Arkansas. Gertrude will forever remain in the hearts of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey G. May, her parents, Cornelius and Agathe Epp, one step daughter, Betty Deer and one step son, Dale May.
Gertrude's life celebration will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Mt. Pleasant Church in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Diane Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
