Another Pioneer Called To Rest
Mrs. Elizabeth Ditto quietly went to sleep Saturday afternoon and her earthly cares were ended. Death had been expected for several days. About a month ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis but recovered and was able to be up again but she was very feeble and about ten days ago she became worse and from that time there was very little hope for her recovery and death claimed her at 5 P. M. last Saturday afternoon.
Elizabeth Ellen Scott, was born March 11, 1853 at Wausen [sic], Ohio and departed this life Oct. 1 1927 at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 20 days. She was united in marriage to William J. Ditto, September 1, 1875 who preceeded [sic] her in death April 1895. To this union one child was born, Mrs. Druzilla Brooks of Loup City. Mr. and Mrs. Ditto moved to Nebraska December 22 1886 and Loup City was their home from that date until death claimed them.
Mrs. Ditto was a woman who always had a kindly disposition and a smile for everyone and her familiar face will be missed by the people of this community.
Mrs. Ditto lived in the same block in Loup City for the past 41 years which is a record for continuous living in one block by any one in Loup City.
The funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. E. C. Staley pastor of the Methodist church and the music was furnished by the Methodist choir.
The body was shipped to Wausen, Ohio Monday noon for burial and the body will be laid to rest by the side of her husband.
This closes the career of one who has helped build this community and is numbered among our pioneers, but her deeds and her motherly disposition will live for many years to come by those who knew her.
