Phyllis graduated from Laketon High School in 1933. She married Everett W. Grossnickle at the West Manchester Church of the Brethren in North Manchester on December 9, 1934.

Mrs. Grossnickle, a homemaker, was a member of the West Manchester Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School classes and served on many church committees, the Country Women's Club, and served as a 4-H leader many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Paul) House of North Manchester; son, James (Sandra) Grossnickle of North Manchester; grandson, William Grossnickel of Los Angeles, California; three granddaughters, Cynthia Grossnickel of Indianapolis, Deborah House of Wheaton, Illinois, and Diana (Mark) Taylor of Naperville, Illinois; two great-granddaughters, Katrina and Kesley Taylor both of Naperville, Illinois; and two brothers, Wayne (Gwen) Miller of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, and Kenneth (Rose Marie) Miller of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
