He was a 1933 graduate of Chester Township High School and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a lifelong member of the West Manchester Church of the Brethren, where he was Treasurer for many years, and served on several committees. He was a member of the North Manchester Lions Club, Wabash County 4-H Fair Board 10 years, past director of Pure Milk Association, past director of Cincinnati Milk Sales, and past director of Milk Marketing Inc.
He is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Paul) House, North Manchester; son, James (Sandra) Grossnickle, North Manchester; grandson, William Grossnickle, San Diego, CA; three granddaughters, Cynthia Grossnickle, Indianapolis, Deborah House, Wheaton, IL, and Diana (Mark) Taylor, Naperville, IL; two great-granddaughters, Katrina Taylor, and Kesley Taylor, both of Naperville, IL; and sister Beulah Pottenger, Goshen, IN. He was preceeded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel. Pastors Joan Deeter and Randall Westfall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8pm Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the funeral home. Preferred Memorials are to the West Manchester Church of the Brethren and Peabody Retirement Community.
