The death of Wm. Chesnutt, of Lewistown, Pa., father of W. K. Chesnutt, Esq., of this place, which was caused by the accidental discharge of his rifle, while hunting in the mountain near Lewistown, on election day, was a sad and mournful affair. In his last moments, he had the presence of mind to pencil a short account of the manner in which the accident occurred. It appears from the message left that he slipped while passing over a ledge of rocks, the rifle discharging its contents in his side. Mr. Chesnutt was about 58 years of age, well-known and greatly respected in his community.
