W W Shute was a Civil War veteran and the son of John Armstrong Shute and Nancy H Watkins, who were married 24 Oct 1833, in Davidson County.

Buried in the family plot are Mrs. Shute, son Ewing and daughter Jeanette, and sister Lelia Williamson. W W Shute is buried at Mt Olivet's Confederate Circle.
