She was born in Claxton, GA., on July 1, 1937 to the late Neil A. and Eula Thaggard of Claxton.
Jane was an accomplished seamstress, an interior decorator and owned her own business, "Jane's Interiors" in Dublin, GA. She taught sewing classes at home and at the international Drapery School in North Carolina.
She was a gifted Bible teacher and loved to study God's Word. She taught adult Sunday School classes for years and previously taught the Married Couples 1st Sunday School Class at Marie Baptist Church in Dublin, GA., where she was an active member. Jane taught numerous Women's Bible Studies and spoke at various Women's Conferences across the United States. She had served as Sunday School Conference Leader for the Georgia Baptist Convention, Divisional Vice-President of the Woman's Missionary Union of the Georgia Baptist Convention and President of the Georgia Baptist Association Missionary Spouses Fellowship, and was a volunteer for Home and Foreign Missions.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Neil A. Thaggard, II of Jacksonville, FL.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Rev. J. L. Adams, Jr., of Dublin, GA., a mother-in-law, Eunice Adams; four children, Nora J. Adams and friend, Earm Sapp, Lewey Adams, III , and wife, Joy, Susan A. Lott and husband, Greg, all of Claxton, and Rebekiah A. Yawn and husband, Charles of Vidalia, GA; ten grandchildren, James, Joshua, Adam, Luke, Marah, Levi, Mark, Lauren, Lindsay, Lydia, and three great-grandchildren, Cady, Grace, and Jacob; one sister, Betty T. Dixon and brother-in-law, Bobby, of Vidalia, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Stanley Funeral Home in Dublin, GA.
The home-going celebration will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Home with The Rev. Bobby Dixon, brother-in-law and Rev. Bobby Hutto, Pastor, Marie Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2005 at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home of Claxton.
The home-going celebration will be held at Eastside Baptist Church, Claxton, GA at 11 a.m., Monday, January 31, 2005 with The Rev. Paul Lewis, former pastor and Rev. Hines Adams, brother-in-law will officiate.
Interment: Brewton Cemetery, Hagan, GA.
Honorary pallbearers will be the pastors of the Laurens Baptist Association and the Women's Missionary Union.
