Elmer Chase died at the home of his
daughter near the old Chase homestead
on Tuesday, July 8 th. Mr. Chase was
born in Furnace Woods, (Cortlandtown)
April 14, 1827.
Mr. Chase was a man of the highest
oharacter and had the respect of all who
had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
He became identified with the M. E.
church at an early age and was an
active and influential member during
his life-time.
He was a great reader and while he
had only the ordinary opportunities for
educational advantages which fall to
the lot of a country boy. He was well
informed on all the current topics of
the day and kept in close touch with the
world's progress. He was a man of
domestic habits aud was so wedded to
the joys of home life that he never went
abroad in search of amusement, but was
content to sit down "under his own own
vine and fig tree" which seemed to him
the reasonable way of enjoying life.
He was a man of kind heart and genial
disposition and so broad was his charity
that he rarely or never indulged in criticism
of others He died as he lived, in
the full hope of blessed immortality. He
will he greatly missed by a wide circle
of sorrowing friends.
Mr Ohsse was survived by his wife,
six children, three brothers and one sister.

Nyack; Mrs J. A Bennet, Croton
Point; Mrs. A. G. N. Spatz, Bloomfield,
N. J., ;Mr. Alfred Chase, Peekskill.Aged 75 yrs 2 months 25 days
