Jean (Coll) DiGangi, a social worker, died Tuesday in Hartford, Conn. She was 64. Mrs. Digangi, who lived in Gulph Mills for the last 20 years, was a social worker for Montgomery County. She formerly lived in Westtown Township, Chester County. She was a member of St. Mathew's Roman Catholic Church in Conshohocken and the Sisters of the Carmelite Order. Born April 7, 1933 in Hartford, Conn, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Claire (Meade) Coll. Jean was proud of her Irish heritage. She represented the American Coll side of the family at Eamon De Velara's funeral in Ireland (former President of Ireland). Jean's grandfather Edward P Coll escorted his sister, Catherine Coll's son 2 yr old Eamon De Velara (who was born in NY) from the USA to his grandmother Elizabeth Carrol Coll in Bruree, Limerick, Ireland.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Sr.; three sons, John and Michael Jr. both of Gulph Mills, and Christopher of Philadelphia; a daughter Claire DiGangi of Gulph Mills; two grandchildren; a brother , Ned Coll of Hartford, Conn; two sisters, Claire Procta of Jacksonville Fla, and Joyce Castarino of Hartford, Conn. A funeral Mass will be 10 am Saturday at St. Matthew's R.C. Church, Third Avenue and Fayette St. Conshohocken. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken. Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm tomorrow and from 8:30 to 9;30 am Saturday at the Donald E. Moore Funeral Home, 16 E First Ave, Conshohocken.
