CANAAN — Robert Alex Jacquier, 85, of East Canaan, passed away peacefully at his home with the love of his life by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Riiska) Jacquier.

Born in Winsted on Sept. 4, 1929. He was the son of the late Francis Alex and Ethel (Williams) Jacquier. Robert was a dedicated farmer and a traditional family man. Robert began farming with Dorothy in 1948, and founded Laurel Brook Farm in 1950. Robert was an active member of the community and supported countless organizations. Robert was a true leader in the agriculture industry. His dedication and passion to Agri-Mark and the Cabot brand was profound. Although he was a man of many accomplishments, he took the most pride in his family.

Roberts love and support to his family was unconditional, unwavering and awe-inspiring.

Robert is survived by his true love and wife of 66 years, Dottie; his sons, David and wife Melody, Peter and wife Jean of East Canaan, and Phillip Jacquier of Southwick, Mass.; his brothers, Don and wife Joyce of New York, William and Audrey of New Hampshire; and his sister, Joyce Jacquier of Vermont. His legacy will live on through the lives of his 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his parents, and his beloved daughter, Cynthia (Jacquier) Adams, a granddaughter Ashlee Jacquier, and a grandson, Scott Jacquier.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Laurel Brook Farm. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, East Canaan. A reception will follow at Laurel Brook Farm to remember and honor PaGramps. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Litchfield County 4-H Foundation, 843 University Drive, Torrington 06790.
