He was a graduate of Van Wert High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Washington D.C. He was a F.B.I. Special Agent for 20 years, serving as resident agent of S.E. Ohio in Athens. He retired as Director of Security at Ohio University, where he organized and established the O.U. Police Department. He was employed at O.U. from 1960-1987.
Bob was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church, Athens where he served on the Church Council and as Treasurer. He was a lifetime member of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police. He was also a member of the Model Railroaders Club, the Ohio University Flying Club as a licensed pilot and V.F.W. Post 3477.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II, where he was a Staff Sergeant and machine gunner aboard B-24 and B-17 Bombers. He flew over 44 missions in Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes as a member of the 406th Bomb Squadron.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mildred Pitts Guinn; his daughter & son in law, Sharon L. & Libero Scinicariello of Richmond, Va.; his son, Robert E. Guinn of Blacksburg, Va.; three grandchildren- Antonio Scinicariello, Elizabeth Guinn and her husband, James Thomas, and Caroline Guinn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday 2:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 69 Mill St., Athens with Rev. Lynn Miller. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
