Mr. LaFountain retired in 1971 from the Ticonderoga Central School District, where he had been employed in the maintenance department.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Donahue, one daughter, four brothers, six sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Ticonderoga.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Port Henry.
