Charlotte Maria Livingston was the daughter of Charles Livingston, 2nd Earl of Newburgh and Lady Frances Brudenell Livingston, Countess of Newburgh.

She first married Thomas Clifford, eldest son and heir of Hugh Clifford, 2nd Baron Clifford of Chudleigh and Anne Preston Clifford, on December 22, 1713. They had two children: Lady Anne Clifford and Lady Frances Clifford. Thomas Clifford died in 1718.

Lady Charlotte Livingston Clifford inherited the earldom of Newburgh, becoming the 3rd Countess of Newburgh.

Charlotte, Countess of Newburgh married Charles Radclyffe, de jure 5th Earl of Derwentwater, on June 24, 1724. They had six children: James Bartholomew Radclyffe, 4th Earl of Newburgh and titular 6th Earl of Derwentwater; Hon James Radclyffe; Lady Mary Radclyffe; Lady Charlotte Radclyffe; Lady Barbara Radclyffe; and Hon Charles Radclyffe.

Charles Radclyffe, de jure 5th Earl of Derwentwater, was executed on December 8, 1746, in London. He was one of the few Jacobites who had participated in the Fifteen and Forty-Five.

She died on August, 4, 1755, and buried with her husband at St Giles in the Fields.
