Co. A, 164th OVI. GAR marker in front of Joseph Grable stone would have belonged to Jerome.
"Pvt. Jerome Grable was born January 11, 1844 at Greensburg in Summit County, Ohio. His
personal description as found in his service file reports that he was 5'7" with a dark complexion,
brown eyes, dark hair and was a farmer at enlistment. His health was apparently broken while in
the service as his occupation in 1870 was noted simply as "invalid." Despite ill health and
leaving a wife no pension claim was made in his name. He died in 1871 and is buried with his
parents in the Greensburg cemetery although his grave is no longer marked."
