Mrs. Gertrude M. Scammell,
73, of Lafayette, died at her
home last night. She was the
widow of Walter H. Scammell, former
supervisor and for many years
a Democratic leader.
Mrs. Scammell was a native of
Fabius and,a resident of LaFayette
50 years. She was a member of
the Lafayette Presbyterian church
and a member of it's Women's Serv-
ice guild.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Harold I. Irwin, Mrs. Glenn
Miller and Miss Ora L. Scammell;
a son, Harry E. Scammell; four
sisters, Mrs. Nellie Dodge, Miss
Carrie Squire, Mrs. John Blaney
and Mrs. T. L. Compton; three
brothers, Jesse, Edward and Ernest
Squire, and six grandchildren, Robert
and Joyce Irwin, Richard and
Ronald Scammell, and Gary and
James Miller.
Services will be held at 2 p. m.
Thursday at the home. The Rev.
Harry Malick will officiate/ Burial
will be in LaFayette Rural cemetery.
Friends mav call at their convenience.
