Suggested edit: John B. Bowman was born to George Bowman and Ann Crammer in Salem twp., Warren Co., OH. He and his older brother William R. Bowman can be seen with their parents in the 1850 census. John was a carpenter. He married three times, first to Margaret J. Bayless, on 16 Mar 1861 at Warren Co., OH. He served during the Civil War as a musician and perhaps in other capacities which led to his final rank of Sargent. His wife Margaret died about 1870 in Illinois. They may have had at least four children: Cornelia, Lucy, Eliza, and Martha. Second, John married Nancy J. Drake Piper, on 2 Dec 1885; at Greene, IL Nancy died in 1888. Third, John married Eva Lewis, about 1889/90 at Clinton Co,, OH. He died in 1896 at Wilmington, Clinton Co., OH after a fall while working on a project at the Baptist Parsonage. The attending physician said John may have also had heart problems.
