DOWDY, Ernest Spencer Jr., 79, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jean Dowdy. He is survived by two sons, Gregory S. Dowdy and wife, Kyndl, and Jeffrey S. Dowdy and wife, Tania; grandchildren, Cory, Savannah, Jared and Logan; and many beloved friends. Ernest served his country in the U.S. Army and worked as a painter in the Richmond area for most of his life. After retiring, he enjoyed life with his friends, drinking coffee, spending time at 7-11, watching westerns, playing poker and the lottery. Ernest was a loving father and grandfather and will always be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 1, at Bliley's- Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., and where a celebration of Ernest's life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 2. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.
