“On Wednesday last week occurred the death of William Bartz, a life-long resident of this vicinity…Mr. Bartz was the son of Philip and Katherine Bartz, and was born in Cohocton in 1856. In 1882 he was married to Addie Mae Totten, whose death occurred in 1930. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Bombard, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pierce and Mrs. Rebecca Kyser; two brothers, Charles and Louis Bartz; three grandchildren, Mrs. Frances Jones and Gordon Bartz of this village and Mrs. Max Braunsweiger of Wellsville; three great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews…Burial was in the local cemetery. Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Earl Bartz of Cortland, Mr. and Mrs. Max Braunsweiger of Wellsville, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bartz and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bartz of Cohocton, James Totten of Perry, Mrs. Zina Dunn and daughter, Bessie, and Mrs. George Briggs of Hemlock.”
